Miracle Baby

    Jun 30, 2024 | by The Fellowship

My wife and I met in Houston in 2017.  I was raised in Ohio; she is originally from Taiwan, but grew up in California.  We were married in December, 2019, in Houston and moved to Fulshear for a family friendly environment for the children we hoped to have. Our search for a church in the Katy area led us to The Fellowship.  Very soon we found a mighty group of praying and supportive friends doing life together and joined their Life Group.

Since the day of our marriage, my wife and I have been trying to conceive a baby. She was in her mid-30’s at the time and I in my early 50’s.  Told that it may be difficult for us to have a baby, my wife met with several OB/Gyn’s, but all attempts to conceive were met with disappointment. We were believing and asking God that if it was His will, to please bless us with a baby. My wife  made and hung in our dining room a shadow box frame with little baby shoes and Scriptures  that told of people in the Bible having children later in life. I even printed out and taped Scriptures to cabinets in our kitchen so every time our eyes saw them, we would claim them.  Talk about calling a child into our family in Jesus’ Name!

In the fall of 2022, a call came from her father in Asia about a fertility clinic in Taipei that he had connections with.  Would we be interested in speaking with the physicians at the clinic about in vitro fertilization?  With nothing to lose and believing that this was from God, we scheduled a Zoom call with the doctors.

From the moment the call began, we overwhelmingly felt that this clinic had been sent to us by Jesus Christ. The kind, attentive doctors informed us that their fertility procedures had a 95% success rate. We were both excited and hopeful and began to discuss logistics.

My wife is employed by her father in his business and also owns a business of her own. Her work is done remotely, so she could continue to accomplish it while living in Taiwan and undergoing the in vitro process. I on the other hand was a Sales Representative for a Commercial Automatic Door Manufacturer based in Houston.  My job required me to meet customers in the local area on a weekly basis. However, just at that time I was informed that my company was getting sold and that several managers were either being let go or were quitting. It seemed like God was paving a way for us to travel to Asia to begin the in vitro process. My wife and I discussed financials, prayed a lot and took a huge leap of faith. Early in 2023, I quit my job and we moved to Taipei a month later to begin the in vitro process.

We can imagine how many people must have thought we needed to have our heads examined. Why would we even entertain moving to Asia to do in vitro?  But when God plants a seed, it is nearly impossible to go against His Will!

The week before we left, at our monthly Men’s Breakfast at The Fellowship all the men and the pastors laid hands on me and prayed for God to bless and protect us -- and to place a baby in my wife’s womb.

My wife and I packed six suitcases of belongings and flew to Taipei.  Once settled in our new apartment, we immediately got planted in an English-speaking Christian Church called Every Nation Taipei Church. We were so thrilled to find many Westerners and even Americans attending the church.

The second day in town, we met with the lead physician at the fertility clinic.  She seemed to think our chances of getting pregnant the first time were very favorable. And so the process began. We continually sent prayer requests to our Life Group at The Fellowship back in Texas and all our friends and family.

The in vitro procedure started with the egg retrieval in May.  In September I had flown back to visit my family in Ohio when I got a text at 11 p.m. one night.  It was a screen shot of an ultrasound and in the very middle of it was this tiny little dot. My wife said, “That little dot is our baby and the doctor said we are at four weeks!” You can imagine how thrilled I was -- along with all our friends and family! Thank you, Jesus!

Fast forward to today.  My wife gave birth on May 22, 2024, to our daughter who weighed 8.33 pounds at birth and is perfect! We chose her middle name after my dear mother who was called home to be with the Lord on February 9th of this year.  How incredibly thankful to Jesus we are for blessing us with a child. We are grateful for all our praying brothers and sisters in our forever family of Christians at The Fellowship, especially our Life Group, the pastors and the Men’s Ministry.

There is incredible power in prayer!  Our Miracle Baby is the result of so many Prayer Warriors interceding for the Lord to place that precious child into our lives. Thank you, Jesus Christ, for hearing and answering our prayers

For you are great and do wondrous things.
    You alone are God.
