The OG of Good!

November 02, 2022

What does OG mean? Culturally, it first meant Original Gangster. But it has become a widely used slang term for someone who is incredibly exceptional, authentic, or “old-school.” Sunday, I said that God was and is the OG of good! He is not an original gangster … God is the Original Good, the one and only, the real deal when it comes to pure goodness.

Jesus said God is good and only God.

And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. Mark 10:18

Now there are good people, but your good and my good, is nothing compared to the OG … Original Good God!

God is good all the time ... and all the time God is good. It is who He is and it is what He does! Now I will admit, it is hard sometimes to see evil in the world and even harder to personally experience the bad of this world without ever the thought of how God can allow such wrong. Beneath that question lies a truth that must be embraced. A truth as immutable as gravity … God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

The law of God’s goodness is never questioned any more than gravity. It is a truth that allows us, invites us into the presence of our good, good Father when we are experiencing the hard, difficult and yes even evil realities of this world. It is in His presence that we experience everything good about our Lord. His love, grace, mercy, compassion, strength, comfort, confidence, courage and more.

No matter what you are going through, God alone is the one we run to for survival. As the prophet Nahum wrote …

The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.            Nahum 1:7

If you missed the message Good God Almighty, check it out here! And remember, God is good all the time ... and all the time, God is good!

Take a moment to come into the presence of your good, good, heavenly Father and in Him alone spend time basking in His goodness.
