Baptism does not save us. Jesus saves us by grace through faith. For every follower of Jesus, baptism is an important next step.

In Scripture, baptism was the normal response of people who believed the gospel. When people trusted

Jesus, they were baptized. Baptism was not something they delayed until they felt mature enough.

It was a step of faith, obedience, and public identification with Christ.

If Jesus has saved you, baptism is a beautiful way to say,

“My old life is buried with Christ. I have been raised to new life. I belong to Him.”

What is baptism?

Baptism is an outward picture of an inward reality.

Through baptism, followers of Jesus publicly identify with His death, burial, and resurrection. Going under the water is a picture of your old life being buried with Christ. Coming out of the water is a picture of being raised to walk in new life with Him.

Baptism is not a declaration that you are perfect. It is a declaration that you belong to Jesus.

Why should I be baptized?

Baptism is a step of obedience.

Jesus commanded it, Jesus modeled it, and the early church practiced it. If you have trusted Jesus, baptism is the next step of publicly declaring your faith in Him.

Baptism shows that you have made a break with your old life and are taking your stand with Christ.

Do I need to be baptized to be saved?

No. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, not by our works. Baptism does not save you, but it is an important step of obedience for every follower of Jesus.

We would be glad to talk with you about that. Since we practice believer’s baptism, we encourage people to be baptized after they have personally placed their faith in Jesus.Text...

Can my infant be baptized?

At The Fellowship, we practice believer’s baptism, which means baptism is for someone who has personally trusted Jesus and is ready to publicly declare their faith.

For infants and young children, we offer parent-child dedication as a way for parents to commit to raising their child to know and follow Jesus.

What if my child wants to be baptized?

If your child has personally trusted Jesus and understands what baptism means our team would love to help you discern readiness and have a conversation with your child.

What does baptism look like?

At The Fellowship, baptism is by immersion in water in our outdoor baptistry pool.

A pastor or ministry leader will briefly explain the meaning of baptism, ask a few simple questions about your faith in Jesus, lower you under the water, and raise you back up as a picture of being raised to new life in Christ.

You do not have to give a long speech. Our goal is to help you clearly and joyfully declare your faith in Jesus.

When do baptisms happen?

We baptize people throughout the year as they are ready. After you register, our team will help schedule a time that works best.

Where do baptisms happen?

Baptisms take place outside in our baptistry pool at The Fellowship. Our team will give you specific instructions before your baptism so you know where to go, what to bring, and what to expect.

What should I wear?

Wear dark clothes that can get wet. Bring a towel and a change of clothes. We’ll give you any specific details before your baptism.

Is the baptism water heated?

We do our best to heat the water before baptisms. Because our baptistry is outdoors, weather can affect the water temperature, especially if it rains the night before.

What happens if it rains?

If it is raining during your baptism, we can still baptize you at your discretion, or we can reschedule for another time.

If lightning is in the area, we will wait for it to pass or reschedule your baptism

Do I have to share my story publicly?

You do not have to give a long speech. We may ask a few simple questions so you can clearly declare your faith in Jesus.
